Newcastle - Zurich flights needed

My husband has been lucky enough to get 2 nights 29 Nov - 02 Dec for The Grand Hotel Quellenhof from the Leading Hotels of the World, but as we live near Newcastle Airport and there are no flights to Zurich from there, we wondered if anyone can help us find an alternative route that does not work out to be too expensive?
Also does anyone know the best way from the airport to the hotel?

Public transport in Switzerland is excellent. For details, including route planners and timetables, search for SBB (the website for their railway system, but it includes buses and other forms of transport). All the information that you would want is available there in English.0

It's a trip I've tried to do a few times. There are basically three options:
- KLM via Amsterdam
- BA via Heathrow (make sure you don't end up going NCL-LHR-LGW-ZRH!)
- make your own way to Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham or London for a direct flight. The bmi flight from Edinburgh is a good option.0 -
Hi, if you haven't already booked your flights then have a think about what there is to do in the area. Acording to lhw website, their spa is closed so you will be stuck for things to do:

From April 1, 2008 until April 1, 2009: Hotel spa will be closed for refurbishment
I won two nights too in one of their hotels. I am going solely for the spa.0 -
the airport to the station is a 30 minute or train ride, very regular. from there the city is pretty straight forward to get around - its safe to walk or there are plenty of trams. maybe try looking at google maps to see how far away from the station your hotel is.0

It's much less than 30 mins from Zurich airport to the city centre, more like 15 mins tops.
Also Swiss flies directly from Manchester.
