Did anyone else get caught by the Guess watch/Goldsmiths/Tesco vouchers post?

I tried to follow this 'winning' post offer, but once I had the vouchers, was told that you can't buy reduced items with the Tesco clubcard vouchers. There isn't anything full price I want, so now I'm lumbered with the Goldsmiths vouchers.
Did no-one else come a cropper with this one? Or have I missed the post somewhere?
Boo hoo.

You could try asking Tesco to take them back and refund the points back to your account.0 -
Why can't you buy a gift certificate from Goldsmiths using the Goldsmiths vouchers and then use the certificate to buy the reduced items???0

I asked Goldsmiths to do that (could then give it as a gift for the recipient to choose their own item) but they refused point blank.
Like you, I'm lumbered with a large amount of Goldsmiths vouchers .... having said that, looking at the vouchers it looks like they could be used elsewhere.
Other problem is that they have issued me £100 vouchers and there is NO CHANGE given.
Hence if I buy something for £50 (or £150) for example, then I lose £50.
Not good imho0 -
The notes you should receive with the vouchers state "We hope you enjoy the clubcard deal you have chosen. However if you would prefer to use your clubcard deal token(s) for an alternative deal, these tokens can be used as full or part payment for any deal which does not have the "BUY IN FULL" logo next to it in the brochure, but cannot be used for avis car rental."
I believe you can send them back and change them for other vouchers.
You do not get change, and you can't use them with any other offers.
I've spent £2400 in the last 2 weeks with them in just deals (£5 in cash). I think they'll probably be loosing most money on the branded watches (Rolex/Gucci/Cartier). Plus - the prices are virtually the same everywhere for these items...
My advice - take advantage as soon as you can - I don't reckon goldsmiths will be in this scheme for long!!

are the tesco deals vouchers valid on branded watches - somebody on another thread said that they are not valid on designer items - do you know what the exclusions are? Thanks!0

I managed to get £300 of Goldsmiths gift vouchers. They didn't want to do it really but they phoned head office who said it was policy to give a credit note if something is bought with Tesco vouchers and returned. So I said ok I'll buy a watch and give it straight back to you then.
They couldn't be bothered so just let me order the gift vouchers instead.0 -
I swapped my tesco points for MFI vouchers a while back. When I bought the item I wanted from MFI the man in the shop said if you need to return it or change your mind within the cooling off period they cannot give the vouchers back and will only put the points back on your card.
Might be a bit drastic and not very fair to goldsmiths but if your really stuck with them.0 -
I'm not at home now, so can't look at the t+c's note that accompanies the vouchers, however as far as I remember there are no exceptions as to what you can/cannot buy, except for already reduced price items.
Currently had;
* a guest bed (pull out) from MFI for £300 (=£75).
* a Gucci 5505/Pearl face/diamonds for £649 (=£162.25).
* a 0.5 carat diamond/platinum ring for £1750 (=£437.5).
The last one not so moneysaving - but it did look nice, and you can't really grumble for 75% off.
Thank god for bavy (beef in gravy).
Still got £150 left, and approx £400 coming in feb. :snow_laug
Like I say - I can't see how they can keep this offer going - so buy your jewellery/watches now!
Bought from white rose centre, Leeds.

Thanks guys, I'll try to send the vouchers back to Tesco. It is a bit annoying that the person that posted this idea as a best bargain Christmas idea won a prize for it. It's a lesson to us all that we need to be really certain before we send people on a wild goose chase after offers, we need to be certain we got it right.0
