Is it really worth it? Long sorry!

Been on here quite alot lately as we are selling our house, from day one we have had problems and they just seem to be getting worse. We got a buyer for our house in june, he said on my doorstep that he had sold and that he was hoping for a quick sale, we then rushed up north to where we wanted to move to and searched for properties. Thankfully we found one and got it for a very good price, then our buyers took a drop on their house and we had to do the same but the house we are buying did too so didnt lose that much. Then our buyer didnt get his mortgage approved as he couldnt afford it so everyone in the chain took a drop too. Its been one hastle after another, first its all going through then its not :( Last week EA told us that everything was going through and to look at removals, yesterday I got a call from up norths EA, the survey for this house was supposed to be done 2 wks back and still hasnt been done, person at the top of the chain is now gonna pull out by today if the survey hasnt been booked.

Is it really worth it? We do really need to move as it will help our money worries but is it worth turning grey for? Our EA is terrible, never around when you need him and never returns your calls, feel like just pulling out and waiting until the market picks up.

Just having a rant, what would you do?

If you pull out now, you will have to go through it all again when you do decide to move. If you really want to move areas, I would stick with it. You have a chain set up. Your sellers are really keen, if they are pressurising you to get a survey booked, all good signs.

Is your buyer really able to complete? If he is having problems getting a mortgage then you need to ensure he CAN complete and not just wants to complete.

If you are in doubt I would think seriously about different options, ie renting instead of buying up north. That way when you are living up there you can search for a home to buy and you will have time on your side.

But if you feel this chain is safe then you really do need a search doing on the property you want as without it you will not know if the house is mortgagable and if your mortgage offer will be approved on that property. (You have already witnessed first hand problems encountered by your buyer, these could be repeated with you).

Overall no it probably isn't worth turning grey for, but nearly all house purchases/sales/chains have problems and there will be no guarantee of any other chain being hassle free. You need to decide what is an isn't acceptable to you and take each step at a time.

My parents had a similar situation, where the person buying the house from the person who wanted my parent's house kept getting refused a mortgage. After the person wanting my parent's house dropped their price 3 times, their buyer eventually got a mortgage. Completion due shortly.

If it all works out ok for you, you'll think yes, there was a lot of hassle, but it was worth it.
My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.
