DHCP & Windows ME problem

I have a small network of 3/4 pcs and I've recently moved from fixed IPs to DHCP because of the installation of a broadband router.
The other 3 pcs (XP & Win2K) pick up fine, but I can't get the other pcs to pick up the WinME machine. (It does not appear on NEtNeighbourhood)

I can pick up the other 3 pcs on the ME - but not the ME pc itself.

I can ping the WinME from the other machines, using WINIPCFG to find the assigned IP. and it'll pick up the internet from the router

Any ideas?

If PING works then the hardware is OK. Three possibilities come to mind:
    1) Do you have at least one folder on the ME machine shared?
    2) Is the network name on all computers the same and are the computer names unique?
    3) Could be a firewall problem - try disabling firewalls.

Also, did you use the network setup wizard when you configured the computers?

Go into services and see if:dns client is started also check dhcp client is started. You could also try to lower your MTU 1492 and 1400 are good settings.

    Cheers Scotty.
The ME node had the network name with some lower case.
The XP & W2K name is in upper case.

Strange. It worked fine with fixed IPs.
    Didn't work with the DHCP.

Anyway thanks everybody for your responses.
    Problem solved.
