i have just a new classic credit card with nationwide for people info the credit limit is £2800.i have this for purchases. however i have a debt of £3900 on another card which now needs to be paid off before 11th january 2006. i can pay this off from my current account but this could leave us short for the next few months - apart from the fact that we have this new 9 month 0% purchase card which we could use in between and my mum does not mind loaning us some money.
should i get a new card with HSBC which offers balance transfer at 0% for 9 months which offers us a bit more breathing space or pay the old card off? i know that if you get too many cards (according to martin's article) it can affect being accepted for a card.
at the moment, i still have an abbey credit card which i no longer use (should i cancel this) and bank with them The card i have is with halifax which is now the one which needs to be paid off after it's 9 month interest free period . I have just applied a month or under for the lloyds tsb where i have put £2900 i owe on this (they gave a lower credit limit so could only transfer that amount). thanks in advance.

I would apply for the 0% card with HSBC if I were you. That will give you some breathing room.Ryan Bowman

I'm in a similar situation and apllied successfully for the HSBC card. Although when the paper work arrived they changed the terms. It now looks like if i accept i will have to pay £389 to balance transfer £3500.
What are the current card that offer a no fee BT ?Never buy a stupid dwarf -

How did they come up with a fee of £389, isn't it capped at £50? Appeal!!!0

I'm not sure how ? It supposed to have no fee, even says so on website. But in the covering letter they 'You have been successful in your card application but the terms have changed since you applied'.
Tried to phone them today but got bored of being on hold after 15 mins.Never buy a stupid dwarf -
