Bought an external memory last year, copied everything on to it.
Just tried to update it, but I can't.
Have tried to copy, but it won't let me paste?
Is there a way to make it automatically update?
Don't know where the manual is?
Help??

Is it connected to a PC or Mac?
How is it connected? USB? Firewire?
What OS are you using?
Can you access the files that are on it already?0 -
Thanks for the response, I might have sorted it now. I went onto seagate's website and downloaded the software, I wonder if the software had been deleted in the past!
I will try it later.

My Seagate external, usb connected HD was just recognised by XP when first plugged in and switched on. There was no software included. About 12 months old too.
If you have the XP disc there is backup software on that which I use, it's a bit limited in that the whole lot, of your choosing, has to be backed up each time rather than just changes. I find it more than adequate.
I think, but could be wrong, it's already included in the loaded XP Professional?
However, from your later post it would seem that Seagate offer a downloadable backup facility which you have already done. Wasn't aware of that software!
I have a more recent Seagate external HD on which the backup software is preloaded onto the disc, possibly the same as available on their website? If so I p[ersonally prefer the XP version.0
