is it possible..

With interest rates predicted to go down i am looking to fix my savings rates but also have a bit of flexibility if possible too - unlikely??

I don't want to lose out by not locking in but as i am renting at the moment i don't want tie my money up so that i cannot buy somewhere should a good opportuntity come along.

A few accounts seem to allow you to fix for a year and allow you to withdraw during the period with a penalty for doing so - but which ones punish you least for this?

Also does anyone know of a fixed account i can deposit into after the initial deposit?

A related question too. Would a mortgage lender take into account how much you have in a fixed account in terms of deposit and better rate offer??
