Royal Mail Special Delivery (CUSTARDY)

I saw on a thread in the savings forum that 'custardy' said they might be able to answer questions on Royal Mail.
I sent a Special Delivery letter off on Saturday 18/10/08 and it was delivered on Monday 20/10/08 - Fine, just as it should be.
I sent Special Delivery envelope off at a main post office early last Saturday morning 25/10/08. I expected this to be delivered today.
However, on checking on the Post Office/Royal Mail websites trace & track they don't have any information. I just get the message as follows...
Special Delivery™ Next Day items are first tracked when they have reached our mail centre. This may be late in the evening on the day the item was sent.
Information on your item is not yet available online.
Surely it should have at least reached the mail centre, even though it would have been a day late if it had.
The evelope contained copies of identity documents, so I certainly don't want it to fall into the wrong hands.
Any advice out there please?

Have you tried calling the customer service number? I had this happen to me, and they were able to track it from the service centre, and they advised me to fill out a P58 (I think) to claim for delayed delivery as the item was a day late.0

Thanks, I'll try that.
Is the customer service number the one on the Post Office receipt 08459 272100?0 -
Yes, I think it is (it's a good year since I had to use it, so I could be wrong); you might want to double-check on their website first.0

Yep.
Saturday is not a working day and not covered by Special Delivery normal service.
You should class all post sent on a Saturday as though it was sent on the Monday. If it's not been registered, it's probably sat in the same post office over the weekend I'm guessing.
You should only expect items sent by SD on a Sat to arrive on a Tuesday before 1pm unless you pay for before 9am delivery.
Sorry, I know I'm not Custardy, and I know I haven't answered your 'where is it' question exactly, but that's my experince with RM and SD.No chocolate, cosmetics or clothes to be bought before xmas day 14! ~ NPower eBay target £541.670 -
Thanks petrafyde.
I guess I must have just been lucky when I sent a letter the previous Saturday and it arrived at it's destination on the Monday.0 -
You're welcome!
