After months of reading reviews about flat screen telly's, hubby has now more or less decided that he wants one of these! We were wondering if anyone has already got one of these, or has any info on them as they are quite new having just come onto the market! We reckon they are about £700 so its going to be a big investment, so any information would be helpful.

The LCD Version is quite expensive, however, it does come built in with Freesat HDTV (as long as you have a freesat dish). Panasonic have also a Plasma display version of this that has a larger screen sizes -42" (TH-42PZD81), 46" (TH-46PZD81) and 50" (TH-50PZD81).. again these range from £700 - £1000, but the larger screen size make it a bit better value for money.

Bought a Panasonic TX-32LZD81 from John Lewis for £499.95 including delivery and 5 year guarantee price matched from Richer Sounds.
I am really pleased with it. Easy to use. Great picture from analogue and freeview, DVD and Blue Ray. Not tried the freesat yet. At this price dont think you will get better value. Just as cheap as the version without freesat0 -
After months of thinking I've decided to go for the 37LZD81. The previous post mentions that John Lewis priced match Richer Sounds for the 32LZD81 at £499.95 with a 5 year guarantee. Just looked at the Richer Sounds website and for the 32LZD81 the £499 price is for a one year guarantee but for a 5 year guarantee at Richer Sounds the price is £549.50. Is it normal for John Lewis to agree to price match even though the guarantee lengths differ?0

Hi Charlie Jones, Have you got the price match code from John Lewis as I have been trying to get them to match Richer Sounds for about a week and they won't. Supposedly John Lewis are happy to price match if someone else in another place has already received the same deal. I appreciate your help money saving!!! Cheers.0

That's how it used to work - I'm not sure if it's still the case. It was one of the main reasons for bothering to do the price match in the first place - you got a longer guarantee.Stompa0 -
Hi
Not sure of the price match code as after my initial call at the store it was all done on the phone.
My receipt doesnt show any code on it either, i have just checked - sorry.
I believe they do price match to competitors base price even if they charge for a guarantee ( by the way comet have this for £599 and want £199 for the 5 year guarantee !)
To play in analogue. Get the remote select TV and then you have a choice of Freesat, Digital and then analogue. If you have not got analogue its either not tuned in or you have lost the analogue in your area i would guess
Cheers

Maybe worth phoning John Lewis 0161 491 4914.
I bought the TV from them on 30/12/08.
They must have a record of a price match
Good luck !0 -
Hello again, well we bought the TV (from Richer Sounds 499.00) and very pleased with it. We are thinking of now getting a satellite dish set up to allow us to use the freesat, but just what channels will we be able to get from it. Is it just like the freeview box or do you get some extras. (Hubby is hoping we might drop on for some free football channels from europe)
When we looked into getting a satellite dish a few years ago there were different satellites and you had to point towards one or the other I think, although I expect things have moved on quite a bit from then, although I have probably just got more confused!!!more technology, more information, more confusion.
