Conservatory Roof Insulation

My friend's conservatory has five wooden joists supporting a corrugated plastic roof. We have been around sealing the edges a little better, but I think better insulation is needed. We thought about getting some panes of glass, and fitting them between the joists, just below the plastic level - effectively double glazing the roof.
