Quick Egg Money cashback question

Can't find the answer to this, so hopefully someone can help....

If you have a positive balance on an Egg Money credit card and use it to make purchases, do you get cashback (in addition to the 4% interest)? Or do you only get cashback if you're spending Egg's money, as opposed to yours?

Thanks
Waddle you do eh?

If I balance transfer from Egg Money onto a 0% no fee BT card (ie. HSBC), thus making a positive balance on Egg, would HSBC see this as an ordinary BT? Or a cash advance?

    Yes, you do get cashback.

HSBC will see this as an ordinary BT, but it might be against their T&C. They might define a balance (as in balance transfer) as a negative balance.
It has been mentioned in 1 or 2 threads before and some people think it is fraud to BT to a positive Egg Money card, others don't. I tried to do this myself (not knowing about the 'fraud' part of it) and was declined. Martin mentiones it in his 'Make Free Cash from Credit Cards' article. Read the T&C.

This is a BT, but they will charge you a one-off fee for it!

Not necessarily. BT's to HSBC are fee-free if done within 30 days of account opening.

Thanks very much for your replies, very helpful.

I've only just opened the HSBC card so will be 30 days from opening (thus no BT fee). I have gone ahead and tried it so I'll let you know what happens.
