The account does seem very flexible and with the first year's bonus, the rate at 5.75% is quite competitive.

I took the completed forms to the local Post Office this morning, and hopefully we should soon be able to access the account.

I went to my PO to get some Euros and helpfully was given leaflets and advice about their credit card and other savings products. My savings are currently in a low interest direct transfer account which suits me for convenience but could be working a bit harder so filled in their Direct Saver application online and when I received the documentation in post it showed details I had entered including my password and mothers maiden name.
I wanted to ask them if you can deposit as well as withdraw online so rang their enquiries line, which was answered quickly but was told that deposits are to be made over counter. Perhaps it can be set up online, if so then this is a customer services failing anyway which along with security concern has put me off.

Surely sending a password in the post is fairly common. The key thing is that you can change it immediately once you've logged in, to something suitable to you.
