Self-employment and WTC

Hiya
I am looking into working for myself when my youngest is 3, and my lone parent adviser talked me through self-employment and WTC. She said that if I saw 6 clients a week as a therapist for example, and charged £15 per treatment, then I could say I am working 16 hours a week at minimum wage if I included other tasks in those 16 hours aside from clients such as admin, travelling, buying supplies etc. She said as long as I was working 16 hours and earning around £92 a week, I would qualify for WTC. Is that right? You don't have to earn bang on minimum wage per hour you work, its more like an average of hours v's pay?
Thanks

Hi,
She's right, WTC will take your word that you are working 16 hours per week. I would recommend that you either keep accounts or receipts and exxpense records in case they ask for proof at a latter date and a diary of appointments etc. If you are entitled to In Work Credit you will also need to supply this information every quarter.

How is it actually fiddling though. I am self employed- however all the paperwork, preparing advertisements and stuff like that is work- even though Im not being paid for it. I dont charge people for quotes- so is the time that I use doing that not counted as work?0 -
I'm sure it's legal or the Jobcentre wouldn't suggest it. Your situation may be different from the OP's0
