Deleting duplicates from iTunes library

I seem to have accumulated loads of duplicates in my iTunes, therefore also on my ipod. I know how to display a list of these but cannot work how to delete the extra version, other than tick each one manually. Can anyone help please?

I had the same problem a while ago and i just went through ticking because i couldn't find another way. so i shall be interested for future reference if someone else has found a way.

I assume you've tried: File > Show Duplicates from iTunes?

So if you've got as far as showing the list of duplicates (or what iTunes thinks are duplicates, you still have to manually check), look at the length of the track (there may be 2 different versions), and the format/quality (delete the worse one). If you find it fiddly deleting each one seperately, which I think is what you're getting at, try holding the Ctrl key, then clicking on each track you want to delete, this highlights each one you click, you can then right click one of them, or just press delete, which gets them all at once. That's not just an iTunes thing, it's in the whole of Windows.
