Hi another vote for the blue. You can always get some pink suff for when she goes out with you chrismas shopping!!!!! And a nice pink outfit for chrismas day!!!!!!
Good luck and enjoy your little baby
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j
  • Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. My eldest had lots bought her but most of it was blue and white and yellow.....she really suited it with her lovely blue eyes, my pram was blue as well... If it bothers you sew a pink ribbon on, but i really wouldn't bother.

You can see how much the marketing world wants to get us spending - thr old myth of blue and pink so that families have to feel inferier (sp) for not having the new things for the new baby.

Is she healthy? Is she happy? Is she loved? Then give yourself a shake and remind yourself that it is these things, and these things alone that matter. She could be dressed black and red and purple with yellow polka dots and it wouldnt matter.

  • Don't worry-I'm expecting my 2nd baby in January and in the same circumstances of you and my baby regardless of sex will be in a blue pram, car seat etc-the funny thing is that i didn't know what I was having last time but fil bought us a blue travel system anyway. Don't worry about it at all-you she won't have a clue. It's probably your hormones making you obsess a bit about it. You can buy some lovely pretty outfits with your next vouchers when she's slightly older and they are less likely to be stained with poo or sick! Congratulations on your new arrivalxx

Congratulations on your new baby girl. :)

I have 3 boys. My daughter was my 4th baby. I have photos of her all ready for bed, wearing one of her brother's blue babygro's. It doesn't matter if it's blue. You'll know you have a girl when you change her nappy. :D (btw, aren't they so much harder to clean than boys??!)

Or just out a pink blankie for her to lie on, over the blue bouncer, but really, it doesn't matter. :)

Children are very expensive. The only time in their lives when they don't expect or demand things is in the first two years of their lives. Even that is pushing it a bit as toddlers want things. However, up until they are about four you can economise and not spend too much on them. After that age they become very expensive so its best to save your money if you can as when they are older you will have their expectations and disappointment to deal with. A tiny baby won't know the difference between blue and pink so save your money as you will need it in years to come. Open up an account and put the pink money into it for the future.

    Hi

You can probably get some stuff from freecyle - I would not worry about blue baby seats but some non-blue clothes might help you feel better about it.

Then a couple of cheap flowery tops with blue and pink in them, if you do not get anything in your freecycle bundles. Then you can pretty up the existing clothes.

I'm in a similar situation - just started on a DMP so budgeting like crazy, expecting my second child - first was a girl so Sod's Law this one will be a boy!

My DD is dressed head to toe in clothes from Sainsburys and Tesco - I buy about 6 months in advance when items are in the sale and reduced to silly prices (£4 for a dress, long-sleeve top AND tights). I haven't seen anything of good quality in charity shops unfortunately, but have found bargains on ebay and some great offers on Freecycle.

Lol, if I do find out I am having a boy, you are welcome to a binbag full of pink clothes!

It is hard to not be able to buy them everything that is on the market, but I justify scrimping now because a) she won't even know or care that she didn't have the latest toy or gadget and b) when she is a teenager we will be bled dry then so may as well save the pennies until that day!

Dont do this!! I was told on 2 seperate scans I was having a girl and I got rid of all my sons clothing and blue things, then I had another boy.If I had kept my first sons things I would not have had to buy another thing for the next 5 years but they were all gone and I had to start all over again and get rid of all the pink things I had bought.Dont part with a single item until your baby is in your arms.
  • HI All,

Thanks for your replies - intersting reading - I guess I was just feeling a bit low yesterday (hormones and stuff) - I'm pretty much there on being sensible - she does have pink clothes its just the other stuff but that really doesn't matter - its not like she is loved less - just we can't go crazy and go on a free-for-all spend up - that would be stupid.

I've loads of packets of Nappies to return to tesco's - kept buying 'newborn' in with the weekly shop - hadn't planned on having a 9lb 12oz babe
