Feeling A Bit Guilty .......

Its a weird one this .................
I've just given birth to a beautiful baby girl and I'm sitting here watching her sleep in her brothers blue baby bouncy seat and thats the key word blue - her brother is 3 and when I was expecting him I was working too right up until one week before I had him so money was effectively plentiful - fast forward 3 years and we're in the doom and gloom of 'recession' and while there is a part of me that wants to go 'pink' mad the sensible side is saying - you've got perfectly good blue things don't spend money where you don't need to - don't get me wrong she does have some pink things but its mainly blue (my husband and I thought that I was having another boy as well so that was a surprise).
So what do I do ???? listen to the sensible side and just buy her pink things when she needs them and things need replacing or do as I did her brother and buy what I want (bearing in mind the current climate) ................ I think I know the answer to this really but I do feel guilty that I can't go a little crazy ...................
Husbands work did a whip round and brought £45 of Next vouchers but I'm holding out until the Christmas sale and I'll get £90 worth - I'll be there at 5am with the best of em .......... elbows at the ready !!!!
Thanks for reading

Stick with blue for now lol. Pink's over-rated anyway
I think you've got a good idea and wait until the sales. That's what I'll be doing, getting vouchers for xmas, then go to the sales!0 -
Splash out on a couple of (cheap) pink outfits if you must, and stick with the blue baby equipment you already have.
Or freecycle it for a pink one.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
people still do the blue pink thing? why?????????????
as long as she's comfortable no need to force her to like a garish colour scheme0 -
Try your local freecycle and see if any one there has anything in pink

I had a daughter 1st but never did the heavy pink thing. She did have some pink but mainly blue. I added a few things of pink, like bootees etc so people didn't ask me about my boy!!
I look back at photos now and she looks very pretty but it's really not obvious that her clothes aren't pink'ish.
I think she'll look great in whatever.
On the other side - no one noticed that the pink items I had for her went blue when my son arrived. (except for little pink rabbit buttons on one suit - and no one saw it - hee hee)
So accessorise with cheaper things like ribbons etc...
Congratulations by the way!!_party_0 -
In most of my baby photos I'm dressed in brown or blue (and mostly in 'nice' home knitted things) - never did me any harm. I can't imagine that babies care in the slightest what colour they're wearing or are surrounded by as long as they're warm, well-fed, and loved.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Ditto - stick with blue for now - maybe go for a neutral colour for new items. Maybe you'll be welcoming number 3 before you know it!!!! LOL
Don't feel guilty, tiny ones don't know the difference, and I know some well off people who are happy to buy baby things from the charity shop for their little ones.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter.
Another vote to stick with the blue stuff. When I had twin daughters, we were given lots of stuff by a friend who had a boy, so they had lots of blue/boys' stuff. It did them no harm, they were too young to know. My daughter was my first born and I bought lots of blue stuff just because I either liked it better, or as with my bouncy chair, because it was the only colour they did!!!
She certainly hasn't ever had a problem with it - and until the age of 13 was very "pink and purple". Now at 14 she is into black and red  No less "girlie" but a far cry from pink/blue/lemon!
Don't fret about it - motherhood is about a whole lot more than colours.

My eldest is a girl and I must admit to a few pinky things creeping in but I was actually quite pratical. I was pratical with my two boys who followed although I didn't put them in any pink outfits that I'd kept.
I go with the blue for now when she's a little older she may well chose pink for herself. They tune in to the steriotyping soon enough.
Enjoy her and your son!!Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0
