Where's My Audio Gone?

I Recently Had To Have My Pc Reformatted And Windows Ets Re-installed, However My Adio Devices (speakers) Aren't Working. When I Go Into The Settings Its Saying No Audio Devices Connected And Isn't Giving Me Any Option To Connect Them. I Did Think It Could Be The Sound Card But With It Saying No Audio Devices.....

Also Since The Software Has Been Re Installed The Resolution Of My Screen Is Huge, I've Pressed F11 But That Magnifies Bigger, Any Pointers On This Problem?

  • Hi Spaniel. I should think you can change your screen resolution by going to display settings in the control panel. start>settings>control panel>display>select settings tab and move the slider to desired setting. Does this work?

Sounds like you no longer have audio drivers for your speakers. Not sure where to start on replacing them. Hopefully someone will be along shortly to help

marvellous, sussed the resolution bit....now its just the sound problem!!
  • I know a lot of computers use a generic audio driver from realtek, the realtek ac97. you could try downloading that driver and seeing if it works.

It says on it's website that there are different drivers for specific motherboards but you could strike lucky. What make and model is your PC?

its a TIME PC, i actually put in a sound card myself as the one on the mother board stopped working, i've looked on the sound card and all it says is SC002 no make at all.
  • "SC002" I think is Sweex. Sweex SC002 - there's a drivers section on there... try that. :)

    Wouldn't the device manager help.
  • Wouldn't the device manager help.

It depends... when I reformatted a laptop a while back it wasn't picking up any reference to any type or audio hardware / drivers on the computer even on the device manager, so I couldn't see any make or model. But I tried a generic one and it seemed to have had worked.
