I've got a hotel in Genoa but don't know how to get there...

right folks here's a challenge for anyone who knows what they're doing with flight websites.

I've got a hotel booked near Genoa in north italy, but i've been farting about looking for flights all day and getting nowhere.

I'm booked in the hotel on the 8th and 9th of december so i'm looking for flights from glasgow on the 8th and returning on the 10th.

It looks like maybe I'll have to go through PISA ?

But here's the interesting bit if you know what you're doing (because I don't), I'd happily change at dublin or bristol or birmingham or manchester or something as long as i can find a cheap flight.

I won the 2 nights in the hotel throught a hotel room sale/competition. It's 5 star (never stayed in a 5 star hotel before) so i'm dying to figure out a way of getting there so i can treat my girlfriend.

any thoughts on this little conundrum from the MSE clever cloggs'?

much appreciated folks?

how about whoever finds some cheap flights can com with me?? :T :rotfl: (my girlfriend would kill me!)

I found flights for you between £36 and £182 return and they are the best available. I doubt there is anything else, Genoa isn't a big destination in early December, PISA is the best option.

Going through other airports adds risks and costs in terms of missed connections and additional taxes.

  • The flights you suggested for me on the other thread were for the sunday night to pisa (so i'd need to get a hotel in pisa that night before heading to my hotel in genoa)

and then flying back on the 11th means i'd need to shell out for another hotel on the night of wednesday 10th.

so the reason that's not ideal is that my girlfriend can only get monday tuesday wednesday off - she's got no more days.

so i was wondering if there was an outside chance there may be some other flights available? i have been looknig at other carriers etc but i'm not very good at checking alternative routes i.e. what if i came home to glasgow via dublin or stanstead or something on the wed 10th?

richard you are a star and I may well still end up using those flights you found...just continuing my search at the mo! any ideas?

The sunday night hotel doesn't have to be in Pisa, it can be anywhere between there and Portofino, so could be very cheap.

For the return go for the BA Genoa-LGW-Glasgow one way on Wednesday.

If all this is too much £, then you haven't saved much with this LHW offer.

    Don't think https://www.myair.com helps

  • I looks like I may not be able to go if the only way of coming home at a reasonable price is by coming home on the thursday.

thank-you so much though, i may still be able to do it if the girlfriend can somehow get an extra day off.

just means an extra cost of 2 nights (the sun & wed) at a hotel in pisa.

hmmmm, much thinking to be done.

I was trying to look at any way of stopping over for sunday night in manchester or bristol as we have relatives there. any thoughts on that one? sorry to keep asking, i'm desperate to make this work that's all.

    There is this on https://www.ryanair.com

    Wed, 10 Dec 08
    FlightFR 587 18:45 Depart PSA
    20:05 Arrive STN

    Wed, 10 Dec 08
    FlightFR 419 21:45 Depart STN
    22:55 Arrive PIK

But if the flight is late at STN you would be stranded and a hotel would be expensive.

Genoa is on the main line from France to Italy. My OH and I went there having flown in to Nice (about two hours on the train); just a thought......
