Nintendo Wii

I'm looking to get my girlfriend a nintendo wii for xmas. I'm just looking for a basic package i.e. the console, a controller (or 2), and the sports game.

Anyone know the cheapest place to buy this?

since theres the 2 of you it might be a good idea if you get 2 wii remotes and 2 nunchucks thats if the 2 of you would play against each other, you need a wii remote and a nunchuck to play the boxing game

Have a look at this thread. The sports game comes with the basic Wii along with one Wiimote and one Nunchuck. Ideally you want to get an extra Wiimote and Nunchuck. A lot of people suggest getting Wii Play to get the second Wiimote as it is only a fiver more and you get another game but I thought Wii Play was crap.

I am still to see any major discounting on the wii they are still a very popular buy so they don't need to drop the prices.

Buy the basic package comes with 1 set of controlers (remote and nunchuck) £179.99
Then buy wii play which is a remote and the play games which are basic just a bit of fun for £35 (a remote alone is £33 alone)
and a nunchuck £18 if you want to play 2 player boxing, most games can be played with 1 remote and just keep swaping the controler between turns. tanks on wii play also needs 2 sets of controlers.
    total £250

there are some places like argos doing offers where if you buy a wii and wii play you get wii play for £10 and their price for nunchucks are £15 so a total of £205

I wouldnt bother with the offers at the games stores as they all base their prices on RRP and supermarkets sell their games for £5 less than game anyway so buy the ames from supermarkets and youcan choose them rather than having the ones you dont want in the bundles at game.

  • I just bought a Wii console bundle package at Argos - ordered onliine and collected from my local store about an hour later.

Online I ordered the console at £179.95 - Wii Play & controller at £10.00 and then a nunchuck at £15.00 - totalling £204.95 which was the cheapest I'd seen... then, on top of that Argos were giving a £10.00 off voucher to be used up until Feb 14th 2009 - so I bought a copy of the Star Wars Lego game for £9.95 instead of the advertised £19.95.

All in all it was £214.90 for Wii console, 2 x controllers, 2 x nunchucks, Wii Play and a fairly good game - I'm pretty pleased with that...

Sainsburys recently had a great offer on all consoles, so if I were you I'd wait nearer christmas.
