How to close Natwest current account

I really don't want to take a lunch hour or more to go queue at customer service desk, and then take a seat whilst they find someone to take me into a consulting room and hardsell/question the hell out of me, I'd end up loosing it with them

Is there a standard template to use to close the account?, i.e. perhaps ones that the other bank use in their painless switching scenario - I should of took advantage of it when I move to banks years ago - but didn't. I have a current account and ISA with like £1 or two remaining in each

I just want to draft something now, tell them I've destroyed everything and the pc2paper.co.uk it recorded.. 5 minutes and ~50p done and dusty. Will that work?

To close your account there is just a form. Say you just want an account closure form at the information desk and they will give you one. If they ask you to speak to someone say you 1) don't have time and will return the form later or 2) you are picking it up on behalf of someone else.

I THINK you can just send a signed letter to your branch but I am not 100% sure and they might 'lose' it.

Actually, if they are anything like Hsbc and Halifax they will require you return any card, cheque books and paying in books before closure.
