ok so I will confess I havn't seen a dentist in 10 years. Firstly because I am absolutely terrified secondly because near where I used to live before moving to Manchester my dentist went private and finding an nhs dentist who were taking on patients was impossible. There is a dental hospital in manchester, and I have toothache so bad that it is radiating so it feels as if I have earche too
. I am in full time education so can not afford dental costs I did get an exemption form but am in the process of filling it in. I know that I could claim back the money but I can not afford to spend it in the first place. Does the manchester dental hospital charge for emergencies? If so how much for a tooth extraction?

Sorry not sure about Manchester but I know the London Dental Hospital didn't used to charge but the simplest thing is just phone them and ask....#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

NO it does not charge for emergancies. But they will recomend you find a dentist or join one of thier teaching clinics where students can work on you under supervision.:money: Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou to everyone who has helped.0

You'll also have to go at the crack of dawn and queue up with half of Moss Side and Hulme. Be prepared to write off the day.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
I just rung an emergency dentist that is on the local NHS website as same day service and was told i had to pay £30 to be seen tommorrow !!!! I can't even eat I am in so much pain .... I rung my dentists whom I booked an appointment with in september and asked for the Nov appointment ( the only app I could get ) to be brought forward as I am in agonny waiting and the best they can do is friday !!! I wouldn't mind so much waiting but it was poor dental work that has caused the problem in the first place .....£2008 in 2008 club member no 390

You might want to remind them that NHS rules say that any major pain should be seen within 24hrs of the phone call.- providing you are a regular attender with the practice:money: Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou to everyone who has helped.0 -
Manchester DH also has an access centre run by the NHS.
You will have to pay standard NHS fees or show an exemption certificate.0 -

My private dentist let me down and would NOT see me within 24 hours or were any other dentists in his practice able to see me. I was a regular at his practice for 13 years. They used to cancel the appointments on you and not get the cancellation/rescheduled time card to you in time, so had wasted journies to the practice.
He was really good to start with then after he went private, the service went downhill.
I had to literally beg a really horrible NHS woman on the switchboard to refer me to the dental hospital in Edinburgh - just what you need when you are in excruciating pain, a horrible unsympathetic person:mad:
I ended up paying NHS rates and the filling came out the next week.An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.0
