I went to Macro with my SIL this week and bought 48 Charmin toilet rolls (BOGOF) and 16 Bounty kitchen rolls (also BOGOF, but split with SIL) along with a few other 'bits'. So I'm a bit over budget this week - though not too badly.

(Gosh Macro are getting to be expensive - I bought 5 litres of Fairy Liquid at my local Asian supermarket for £7.49 and in Macro it was £7.59 - with the vat still to be added at the till.)

  • Thanks for the Morrisons link. It's brilliant as I mostly shop there anyway!

  • Just a little addition for me today - another £9.88 to go on the total, and that was some essentials. Picked up a copy of the News of the World as there's a voucher in it for £3 off at Tesco when you spend £30, and am going to do a proper shopping list for Tuesday night as that's when my main shop is.

I'd run out of mixed dried herbs, but realised I had the individual components in my spice rack that were practically untouched as I rarely use them on their own and prefer dried mixed herbs anyway. So I just poured a bit of each of them into the tub and gave it a bit of a shake. Voila. :D Four portions of lasagne have gone into the freezer today from my batch-making session yesterday.

    Now to update my sig..

Been out to Tesc this morning and spent £20.66, although quite a few BOGOFs and reduced price stuff (but not yellow stickered). They have green cabbages (yes, I know but they call them 'green cabbage' for 50p so bought that and also value carrots, which are fine. They have Tresemme (sp??) BOGOF so that should be me with shampoo & conditioner for months and months as the bottles are big. Got Gold Blend coffee 200g for £3 and a large jar of Branston pickle for £1 so I am stocked up on some stuff for a while.
  • Raided ASDA today £8.83

500ml of Nut Oil for £1.08 was pretty good.
    Buy for value not cost.
    Feb Grocery = £55.87 / 80

Just updating signature - was doing really well until I popped into MRT yesterday for some stationary - oh well

I'm finding it very frustrating at the moment because dh is constantly sabotaging me by going and spending his money on food and drink, I think he has spent about thirty pounds this week just on beer, wine and doritos - grr

I've just sent OH off to Lidl with a shopping list - if I went I would spend more but usually he just buys what is on the list:D

Have a bath of bread rising (slowly - its cold in the house!!) in the kitchen and a malt loaf cooling. I need to do something with some neck of lamb I have taken out of the freezer and sort something for tea.

I might go mad and get a couple of pizzas from dominos tonight - DS19 is moving out next saturday so I could say its a treat for him - they are on bogof on Sundays.;)

Of to check on the bread and see if I can think of anything else I need to bake, will update sig when OH gets back with the receipt.

Hope everyone is having a better day - we seem to have so many who are poorly or in crisis at the moment.

    Ok,

So I come on here and see that some of you guys can do a monthly food shop for 100.00. I think to myself that, if they can do that then I surely can do it if I double that amount. I head off to Asda Lidls Tesco and the local farm veg shop to get all the best deals I can. I then look at what I've bought and think to myself "I'm not going to do this at all".

8 days in and I now look in my cupboards and freezer and realise I am well in budget and not only that have packed freezers and far too much food.

I do my one portion freezer draw which comes from dishing up 5 portions instead of 4 (we are a family of 4) and now I'm over loaded with extra single portions :D

We are eating very well and healthier so far and I will never go back to wasting 600.00 on a food shop ever again.

There just is no need to be spending ridiculous amounts on processed rubbish and this last week and my freezer has proved that to me.
    Thanks all.
