My manager has suggested promoting parties at fayres and table top sales - any other ideas?

Ask your manager, ask your team colleagues what works for them.

I'm trying to decide between Vie, Avon and Body Shop as I've just had my hours cut at work. The one thing that is tempting me with Avon is they give you the first two campaigns for free but on the other hand there are a lot of Avon reps where I live.
Body Shop - I love their ethics and I love their products but we now have two Body Shops here.
Vie - There is no shop here which I love the thought of but the only problem is how much it costs to join up with them!

Can people give me some pros for paying out the money. I don't think I'd be doing parties just yet because I want to build up a client base first but is there a way of being able to do like Avon and hand out the books to gather the orders?

If anyone has other things about Vie to sway me in that direction please let me know :)

Vie do a £10 starter kit but it doesn't really say what it includes. Can anyone tell me?

  • If I am right the £10 kit includes a lipstick/lipgloss and a collection of catalogues - it is ideal if you just wish to find out more. I joined when there was a special offer and recived the larger £99 kit for only £10. I would wait for a special offer such as the one I got.

At the moment I think the catalogues would be a good idea for me while I build up a client base. I don't want to pay out for a whole kit and find that I don't sell anything. Then if it builds up I can pay for a kit and start doing parties etc

Have you thought about Bluebella? Its lingerie, lovestuff and adult toys. They however, have a lingerie only catalog.

If you have a good manager they might lend you some of their kit (mine has offered to lend them to me for £5). Things such as the jewellery, foundation and perfume kit takes longer to aquire so this makes sense in the begining.

In the begining as you aquire a client base I would reccomend you invest your profits back into products to build your kit. Clients like to have a large range of products to sample.

  • The idea of this thread is to bring all 'Virgins' together to share best practice, to increase motivation, to swap ideas/hints/tips and generally converse about the company we work for.

It seems to me that some people are using this thread to sometimes promote other party planning companies. Could we please focus more on sharing hints and tips for Vie at Home instead? I know people may just be trying to be helpful but it is straying from the aim of the thread (see above quote).

That sounds like a good idea Squidge :) Did you go for it and how's it going for you?
