Estimated bill before a price rise

Beware - Southern Electric have just sent me an estimated quarterly bill which is absurdly low, representing only 58% of what I actually used and 55% of the previous quarter's usage. I suspect this is because they have announced a price increase effective on Jan 1st; in my case this will be 12.4%. Had I not corrected their readings, I should have paid about £18 extra for electricity used before January 1st but billed in the following quarter.
My wife suggested I should treat them as they treated me and exaggerate my readings, thus stocking up with cheap electricity. Although Southern deserve it, I wouldn't be so dishonest - would I? But I do wonder how many £18 windfalls they are raking in.

Beleive it or not - they won't have done this on purpose. Your bill will be generated automatically on a certain date - the reading used will be take into consideration your previosu usage, usage in the local area and information gathered from the met office. They are not 'out to get you' !
