Dvd Vcr combi recorder - with Freeview?

I've been trying to research a combi recorder, and am very confused
Basically I want a straightforward model which will convert our old home videoes to dvd, and also to record tv onto dvd (and play any of our old video tapes, of course).
I notice that most combi's have Freeview, but we already have a Freeview set top box which we would like to continue using, as the combi player has to go in a solid wooden cabinet under the tv, and we don't want to have the door open all the time to change channels when viewing tv.
If we bought a combi without Freeview, presumably we would only be able to record channels 1 -5?
Also, if we bought a combi with Freeview, would it be possible to carrying on using our existing set top box, or would there be a conflict?
All suggestions/recommendations welcome. We want a simple to use machine (aren't into clever features etc:D ) probably don't need hard drive.
Thanks

If you bought one without, you could connect via your current Freeview box and so have the ability to record all channels. The main problem would be with the timing of the recordings and the inability to watch one Freeview channel whilst recording another.
If you bought with, you would have Twin Tuner capability(The ability to watch a particular Freview channel whilst recording another), plus the ease of use in timing your recordings.
No conflicts likely.0
