Potterton puma modulation control board.

I have a potterton puma combi boiler and something on the modulation board has blown, does anybody know if I have to replace the whole board or just the blown bit?

Also is it a job for the professionals, as I have the installation manual to it here?

Thanks

  • Probably wise to change the board in case of other damage to it!

Regarding to whether it’s a job for the professionals…well as its a gas appliance the sensible advice would be to have the boiler looked at by a Corgi registered engineer as there could be a reason why the board has developed a fault.

    Thanks for your help.
  • The board on my puma blew about 4 years ago during a cold snap (sods law).

I was so desperate to get someone out,i called out a company from the Yellow pages.

They charged me £85 per hour plus £240 for the board,it cost me over £500 at the time, and i was getting upset because when he came with new part 3 days later! he was ringing his boss and ordering supplies for other jobs on his mobile,it's then that i told him that in my oppinion he was stretching the job out,so he could charge me an extra hour or so,he didn't like it,but he could see i was very anoyed with him.

I did ring to get a price for the circuit board the next day,and it was about £80,i was furious, but trading standards said there was nothing i could do.

You are at an advantage that you know what the problem is,so i would try and replace it myself.

p.s the whole board is replaced.
