I had this problem with tele 2? they were sending someones bill to my address it went on for months kept getting through to india, who would not deal with it! best thing was they were sending me my bill aswell. they told me to prove who I was I said no not my problem, they said they will send bayliffs I said fine they could only present court papers to the bill payer not me,(not my bill). spoke to a manager who then said it would stop and credited my account with goodwill for the problems caused.

I would fight them personally, bill isn't in your mothers name, name is just similar.

    goodluck

    Thank you!
This is actually the first correspondence she has received from them....no bills or anything, just this letter out of the blue :confused::confused:
Frightening what they can do to innocent people....they have no idea the amount of stress they cause.

I agree, they are asking for money from a non-existent person....even the person on the properties land reg differs from the letter, as the name on the land reg is double barrelled and the name used on the letter is using just one of the surnames.
Maybe this person took their gas out just using the one surname (which IS the same as my mums) and although my mums and her initials are similar, they ARE different so I don't think they have a leg to stand on proving my mother is the Miss ????????????? they THINK she is! (does that make sense????) :o;)

Execllent! About time these bullies got their come-uppance (and, while I'm at it, shame on Eon for using them in the first place  ) Don't forget to include the brilliant info Optimist included in post 15. IME it's always advantageous to threaten informing the appropriate regulatory body when taking companies like this to task. Like most bullies I genuinely think they will poo their pants once they realise they are dealing with someone who knows his stuff and is prepared to stand up to them. You will get amazing support from the people on this thread, no probs. Good luck!

PS I hope your mother is soon feeling better (I'm sure a grovelling apology from these reprobates will help in that respect ;) )

    :j:j:j SUCCESS!!! :j:j:j
My mother and I are both crying tears of relief! We just wanted to share our good news with every-one who helped us out, giving good advice and encouraging us not to take this and fight these criminals!
For anyone else who this has happened to, please try what I did!

I wrote a 3 page very strong letter to Buchanan, Clarke and Wells, quoting Optimists very good reply about the Office of Fair Trading and incorporating all the other suggestions here too. I gave them 14 days from receipt of my recorded delivery letter that I sent yesterday to send my mother an apology and shut the case or I would be reporting them to the OFT and passing on all my paperwork to various agencies and media.

This morning I then e-mailed a copy of the letter to all the Directors of BCW and the Customer Services Director of E-ON, with a covering e-mail explaining that I thought they may be interested in what was going on in their company name.

3 hours later .....and I received this from the Client Operation Manager of BCW....

    Dear Ms ????,

Thank you for your e-mail, which has been forwarded to myself to deal
with in our Mr Mouat's absence, the contents of which have been noted.

Please allow me to first of all apologise for any distress your mother
has experienced resultant from any communications she has had with or
from this firm. We had until now been unaware of both your mother's age
and her medical condition. Thank you for informing us of this to allow
us take the appropriate steps to resolve this situation to your mother's
    satisfaction.

..., in consideration of the circumstances, I have decided to close our system file in this case and
refer the matter back to my client, to whom I will fully appraise of the
situation to ensure that there is no further contact with your mother in
    this regard.

Again, Mrs ???, please accept my apologies for any distress or
    inconvenience caused.

Please do not hesitate to contact me directly should I be of any
    further assistance.

    Yours sincerely,

    David ????

:j:j:j:j:j:j I do note that they don't really admit that they made a mistake tracing this debt to my mother instead of the person who is responsible, but hey! I don't think the outcome could be better! They are going to leave her alone and that is the main thing :D
It has only taken a week of research on the internet to get this positive result so I hope my story will help some-one else who is contacted by a debt collecting agency by mistake. The law is on our side, we just need to know how to quote it!
Thank you every-one once again and have as great a weekend as we will have now :A:A:A

  • Absolutely great news, George7! I'm so pleased for your mother as well. Even though I'm sure this business has taken its toll on her already fragile health I'm also confident that email will have done her the power of good! Once again, well done!!
