Fitting Gas Cooker Thermostat

I believe that the thermostat on my gas cooker has had it. The oven was on for aboit 20 minutes for gas mark 9 and it roared all the time. It only stopped when we turned it down to 3.
I found a thermostat on line for about £40 ish. Now I have a feeling that I can't fit it and I am going to have to get a corgi registered bod in. Is that correct. And what do you reckon them would charge for it £50
