Most of the S_Max available are still within the Ford dealer network, so you won't have quite as many to look at, to compare.

Depending on how you intend to finance (no part exchange & got the £$£$£ in p[lace) you could get more of a saving at auction.

Like I say, not many around, but this one, an 06 reg, in Enfield tomorrow, around £13k I'd guess, might give yoiu some idea.
FORD S-MAX 2.0 TDCI TITANIUM MPV, SILVER, 5 Doors, Manual Transmission, Diesel, 12369 Miles,

You still have benefit of makers warranty, so shouldn't come unstuck.

Saying that, I'd think a £300 discount not unreasonable, on most vehicles, advertised at around £15k..

We found a car we really liked today and comparing it to a couple of others we'd seen we thought the price was a lot higher given the mileage it had. W spent a long time umming and ahing but when I said my maximum was only £300 less than the advertised price (15k car) they insisted that they were 'unable' to go any lower quote]

Strange economic climate we live in. As a car salesman I would suggest that one situation we have is we have often already factored in current depreciation of a car and the price we are selling it at is competitive in the current market place and is already showing a loss therefore if we are confident the price is right we will hold firm.

If you really want the car in your words it is "only" £300 more than you were prepared to pay. If they still have the car in stock in a few weeks you can always try again but you run the risk it has been sold to someone else.

Try the bible that is auto trader. They have a pretty good website too. I got my last car from them a couple of years ago and when I went to pick it up, I noticed the MOT only had a couple of months left to run and I pointed this out and they knocked £400 of the price! Just as well they did as the car failed due to a faulty abs pump which cost a small fortune to repair!

We've actually got a car now, went to a local dealer who had much less of an attitude so we were happier to buy from! We've been in contact with him for a few months so I guess they knew we were serious. Initially they said they couldn't go down on price, manager wanted to price it £1000 higher than it was etc etc but when it was obvious he wasn't getting anywhere with us at that price he dropped it a bit, and then a bit more and a bit more and threw in some extras, not a huge amount but we were happy enough. Actually when it came to it (after we'd been there over an hour for the 3rd time) they dropped the price very easily so we were kicking ourselves for not pushing for more!
The car we were looking at when I first posted has now gone from Autotrader so they may well have sold it.
