Huge price increase Atlantic
Options
Please forgive me if this has already been discussed but as I can't find anything I thought I would mention it.
The other day I received a letter dated October 2008 from Atlantic regarding my gas and electriciy price increases.
My point is they quote the huge percentages and inform they are effective from August! I thought it was illegal to deny customers the time to prepare/change . Can anyone advise please?

Not illegal at all.
They have 65 days from the date of increase to advise you.
No denial of your time to change. Refer to the letter, it will include details of how you can opt not to accept the increase and the measures you must take to change supplier, and within what timeframes.
10 days to notify them of your intent to change, a further 15 days from that notice for the new supplier to initiate that change."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
plus,
as mentioned elsewhere, if you call and complain they will backdate the %increase from that point if you supply a meter reading. i did this yesterday and they were quite forthcoming.
of course i wasn't tempted to add a few on to my meter readings;)Please note, we've had to remove your signature because it was sh*te!0
