I'm confused, they did required work without consent or what?

the did work that was not required to get MOT without consent .The work would have needed doing in afew mouths time which would have given us time to save for and never once ask if we wanted work doing with them they also left me unable to get to work on friday.

About getting to work, is public transport not an option?

Depending on the garage, they usually ask what the authorisation limit is before they ring to ask if work can be completed, (In the garage I use its £50 or substancial) so if bulbs needed changing they would just do it, The work needed doing you took the hit now instead of months down the line where more work might be needed.

Also, I would only use an MoT only station as they don't make faults up unless you take it to a main dealer and get a service/MoT package

To be honest you should have explicitly stated you want to authorise any additional work that needed doing

I'd post this on the motoring thread.

You will get plenty of help on there.
