I've found the cheapest place to buy Biorb / Biube Aquariums!

Hi guys
I've wanted a Biorb/Biube for a long time but found them very expensive. One local garden centre wanted £125 for a standard Biube, £35 for a halogen light for it, £25 for a heater unit, £7 for a service kit... the list goes on and that's before you've bought any fish or ornaments etc!
I was nearly put off for good, as online prices were only slightly better (even Ebay couldn't come up with the goods)...
BUT THEN I FOUND... (drum roll please)..
www.charterhouse-aquatics.co.uk
They sold be a Biube Pure 35 litre inc the more expensive LED light unit, heater unit, starter pack (inc a service pack and other spares/goodies) all for approx £125 INCLUDING next day delivery!! The saving must be close to £100 compared to the garden centre.
:T An amazing price and excellent service.
Thanks Charterhouse!

I nearly baught a biorb, and i am glad i didnt as they are a pain to clean as you cannot use one of the algea cleaning blocks because of their shape.
They do look nice though0 -

I have had a biorb for about 6 years, and believe me you can clean algae from the sides with a sponge.
Im no fish expert by any means, but its the most simple thing I have ever owned. Ive had tropical fish in it and never had a problem. The service packs making cleaning it out a 5 minute job and it looks stunning.0 -
35L is REALLY small. You wouldn't be able to keep anything (humanely) but a small group of minnows, or similar small fish.
Biorbs are pretty rubbish fish-tanks and extremely overpriced. If you want an ornament, buy a crystal vase or something.0 -
How much are the service packs? Not very MSE. Or nice to the poor fish.
My advice would be to get a proper aquarium. Nice expensive ones are cheap as chips on ebay 2nd hand.0 -
i got a 60 litre biorb got various goldfish in it easy to clean looks good and i have a tropical fish tank .prefer biorb0

I knew they were overpriced rubbish, but never really read up on them before. Deformed fish and eye damage. Not nice.0 -
They're absolutely fine and they look lovely. You just have to research what kind of fish are alright in them. Comets need a large tank, they are very active goldfish.0

I suggest people speak to reef-one directly with any concerns they have about the use of Bi-orb and Bi-ubes. They sent me a comprehensive response to my querey about the negative reviews, taking me through each concern and explaining how this was all nonsense. They even offered to call me back to discuss it over the telephone.
The key here is your choice of fish- if you put a fish that will grow very large in any small tank it will suffer. I'm aware 35L isn't huge but I don't remember ever saying I was planning to keep anything more than a few Tetras- I am a novice after all!!
As I've shown they are not that expensive. The quality is good and I have everthing I need to get going with tropical fish for under £125.0 -
In any case this thread was to let people know where they can get hold of one at a reasonable price- that is the purpose of Money Saving Expert after all.
