Web2SMS - Cheap International text messaging advice

Hi,
I'm currently using Alpha Telecoms Web2SMS to text an Irish Mobile number from the UK at a rate of 5p per text which i pay for upfront by credit card. As I currently text around 50 times a day I would appreciate if anybody knew of any cheaper ways to Internationally text that I could use?

Many thanks for your help.

Chris

  • wish i could help mate, but rather, i am looking to send texts to saudi arabia.

i send texts daily from my 3 mobile (20p a message) and use a website: www.sms.ac to send 5 free messages a day.

Other than that i am stuck.

if anyone knows where i can send any more free international texts, please let me know!

I use Itagg http://www.itagg.com/ - they charge 4p per text (£20 min topup) and you can choose the sender ID so you can put your own mobile number to make it easy for them to reply.

I would urge you to be extremely careful in your use of the https://www.sms.ac facility. The 5 free messages per day are only on offer for 30 days after activating your account. After that, as I read it, you will be charged 50p per message.

I remember subscribing to this company some years ago and I received a rather unpleasant surprise from Orange in the form of an inflated bill.

I would advise anyone using what they think are FREE online sms services not to divulge the details of your own mobile phone number. You may well be electing to receive premium rated texts from the company you think you are using for free.
  • One potential route:

Tiscali.co.uk allow you THREE free SMS a day - including INTERNATIONAL (they provide a drop down list of countries). It used to be TEN... then FIVE... now just THREE.

HOWEVER you can only use the service if you are an active a/c holder - eg ISP dialup and have dialed up once in the last 30 days - so costs 5p and you get upto 30 x 3 = 90 SMSs.

For the last few months I've been using https://www.pldtgetsmart.co.uk (Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company) - you can send international texts from the web or yr mobile at £0.05 each. I think the minimum you pre pay them is £5.00. It works very well

You can register on the o2 website and send upto 10 texts to other UK mobiles each month. You do not have to be an o2 customer to register and if you have more than one mobile phone number you can register each one, thereby giving you more free texts per month. Here's a link to the site:

Yes, this is correct, it is to UK Mobiles only. I know the original poster was asking about international, but as an aside I wanted to mention the fact that it was possible to register on the o2 website and get 10 FREE texts per calendar month. This whole site is devoted to money saving, and this option does save money.
