Help! Dishwasher refusing to drain! Any ideas?

I don't know if anyone can help, we have a Beko dishwasher which isn't draining, its about 18 months old. No idea where the instruction manual is, or even if it would help. Does anyone have any ideas on what we could try? Just finished bailing it out - yeuuuuccch!

Many thanks, DH and I can't cope without it!

Did it stop or get stopped part way thorugh a cycle? If so then starting a program again from scratch usually works. If however it had finished it sounds like a blockage. First thing to check is the filter in the bottom, then its probably worth checking the pipe in the back. If you disconnect the waste pipe you should be able to get a pretty good idea if there is something stuck in the pipe. If there is you can usually dislodge the blockages by giving the hose a bang on something outside. Then a hot wash through with dishwasher cleaner would hopefully get the remaining gunge out.

    HTH, let us know!

  • Is it a fitted one or does it pull out? Sounds like there may be a blockage in the waste pipe. If you can get at it then that would be the first thing to look at..

    Good luck!

Thanks ever so much Kiran and Slimcilla, it just refused to drain at the end of the cycle.

We'd already checked the drain filter, we'll have a go at the tube in a while, I'll let you know how we get on.

God bless MSE, and all who post in the forums!!! :D

    You're welcome.

If it is the pipe then it might be worth checking that once its cleaned it doesn't go back with any sharp bends or kinks.

If the pipe appears clear then it sounds like the pump may have gone.

    Best of luck!
