I am with BG standard duel fuel tariff now. I thinking to switch to BG click 6 energy tariff, as after making comparison between the 2 tariffs, seems that the click 6 energy is cheaper than the standard duel fuel tariff which there both had the following rates;
standard duel fuel tariff:
Tier 1 - 26.081p/kWh
Tier 2 - 11.715p/kWh
click 6 energy tariff:
Tier 1 - 22.332p/kWh
Tier 2 - 10.032p/kWh

what i don't understand is why BG has the standard duel fuel tariff for? as obviously the click 6 energy tariff is cheaper, surely most customers will go for it. wondering what is/are the 'hidden reason(s)' that 'standard duel fuel tariff' could attract customers?

Would that be any extra charge if I simply switch my existing standard duel fuel tariff to click 6 energy tariff?

    No hidden reason - just BG counting on the apathy of most of its customers. Click 6 is an online tariff so not suitable for those not wishing to utilise online access.

    No - only a huge saving.

    With the standard dual fuel tariff you need only pay for what you have actually used each quarter. For the direct debit Click 6 tariff, you need enough extra funds in your account to support their demands whilst you iterate between your readings and the estimates they base from the previous occupiers' usage - who always seem to have been naturists.
