  • I rescued a GSD from a Many Tears in wales just over a year ago. When he was taken in they were told that he had already been chipped, and indeed he came in with all the relevant paperwork, but as much as they scanned him, they could find no chip, so they chipped him. On the day that I picked him up he was scanned and lo and behold they found the TWO chips !!!!!!!!!!!!! When I got him home I contacted the Kennel Club and asked that they change the records of the initial chip that was put in. They refused to do so unless I paid them. Despite explaining what had happened and that I had already paid for the second chip, they still refused to change the details.......
  • Hi, I have pets registered with Missing Pets Bureau since last September but got the email below last week, can anyone out there or Martin & the team confirm this is true and is it safe to transfer to the new company?? (apparently run by an ex employee of Missing Pets Bureau). Thank you.

I am writing to advise you that it is my understanding Missing Pets Bureau (MPB Reunification Services Ltd) has gone into liquidation due to current economic conditions. As a consequence, any pets you have registered, are no longer protected.
I am however pleased to advise that the Consumer Savings Bureau is able to offer those members the opportunity to take out membership FREE OF CHARGE with my new organisation – Pets Bureau. I too care passionately about pets and want to ensure that should the worst happen, we are here to help.
    • For those customers who took out free Petback Protect membership, you can claim FREE Starter Membership and you will be given the opp ortunity to re-register your Pet ID Tag or receive a new one at nominal cost.
    • For customers who took out the Petback Protect Premium or Petback MedAlert service, we will give you 12 months FREE membership to the Gold service worth £50. Please use code PM1 to get these special terms.
When you re-register for the above, why not find out how most families are saving around £1,000 per year, which includes Saving Money on your day to day bills and receiving 5% automatic Cashback on your day to day shopping including food, petrol and diesel.
To ensure that your pet is protected, please immediately go to www.consumersavingsbureau.co.uk and click on the Pets Bureau tab. It is vital that you re-register now and your existing ID Tag/s will be activated in our database.
Please do take advantage of this free offer - we can only hold this open until 30th April 2009 and remember it is vital that your pet’s details are re-registered so we can get your pet back home and why not take the opportunity at the same time to look at other member benefits!
    With best wishes
    Sue Hipperson
    Managing Director
    Consumer Savings Bureau/Pets Bureau

PS In order for us to offer this as a free service we can only offer online assistance, with the automated emergency reunification service being offered by phone. I regret that we cannot offer advice on your old membership with Missing Pets Bureau although if you have more question please click on this link http://www.petsbureau.co.uk/mpb

  • Hi,
I also received this email, however my concerns are even greater than the fact they have appeared to have "liquidated". I have been speaking with the ICO.gov.uk who handle all issues to do with data protection as it appears an ex employee and the originator of the email seems to have been made redundant last year before the company was "liquidated" and then this year bought all our data protected information! This means she had the means to have everything to do with our pets or addresses and our financials.

I tracked down her mobile no. (that suprised her) and had a brief conversation with her pointing out these concerns and she hung up! I have sent a complaint to the ICO and they are to investigate this matter.

I have been defrauded before and a bit wiser now, and this definitely makes me smell a rat. mad.gif

    added item:

On speaking with the liquidators it appears that the Company sold our details to her on the 9th of January. Company went into liquidation on the 20/02/09! I wonder if the creditors would have been happy with that, as with no Data assets no Company!

I have had this email and share your concerns. I am going to get tags made with my home number I think. I had paid for the 'for life' scheme and although this 'new' company sounds ok, I am uncomfortable that they have my details, credit card, and have some connection to the old company. Is this a phoenix sham?
