w/machine water supply

Can anyone tell me, cos I don't have a clue.

If I move my washing machine does it still need to have both a hot and cold water supply?

I was thinking of moving it into my downstairs toilet but there's only a cold water supply in there.

Thanks in advance.

Kate

Washing machines used to have a hot and cold water fill, mine does. However, I believe that newer machines only have a cold water fill. Can you check the back of your machine to see if there is one or two inlets?

Best way is to buy a Y shaped one into two adaptor, £2.19 from a diy shop like Wickes and put both the hot and cold inlet onto the cold supply. This stops the hot fill solenoid overheating, as the water going through cools down the windings on older machines.
It does mean your machine will have to heat the water every time though.

Thanks Mikey that sounds like a cheaper option!

Yes I realise the machine will have to heat its own water but at least my hot water in the house would last longer (well in theory anyway).

    thanks peeps for your help.

Awwwww. You're missing an opportunity there Kittie. :rotfl:

Only joking! Glad you've got an economical solution.
