Well thanks every one for all your postings... When i first posted about zopa i did not think that i would get this much intest!!! It seems to be a good way of makeing your money work a little bit harder...
As i said in my lat post ill be dipping in a bit and giving it a go.
Thanks all:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
TBH, you can decide which market to loan to, and the credit-worthiness of the borrowers. It may be that the high-street bank's knee-jerk halt on lending actually drives better prospects to Zopa.0

I would certaibly give it a go but only put in a small percentage of your savings and please use up your Cash ISA allowance first.
If you haven't signed up yet I can send you a link and I'll even give you half my referal fee if you lend out the required amount !0 -

Given the nature of the post, this result from Google is quite apt I think:

I like the credit union. I give a few hours a week to it as a volunteer. They have strict lending criteria (wow if only the banks had had the same) and it keeps folk from the grasp of Provident and the other nasty door step lenders.0

I've found zopa to be good, both as a lender and a borrower. If you're clever (or just plain lukcy!), you can borrow at a lower rate and then lend it back out at a higher rate, netting the difference for free......!0

Given the fees you have to pay to lend and borrow, this is generally not recommended.
It would rely on you being a A* borrower and lending to Y/C borrowers. As with any leveraged investing, it is high risk.In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

Don't forget you have to pay tax on your interest, but you cannot offset your loan against it, unless you are a business.0
