From Microsoft support site at:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;822129
Memory
Microsoft recommends that your computer have a minimum of 128 MB of RAM. An additional 8 MB of RAM are required for each Office 2003 program that runs at the same time.
It may run but looks as though you will need a RAM upgrade to get to min spec.
Cheers

Thanks for the reply, yes looks like it will need a ram upgade. Is that easy just like as if you was changing ram on a pc.0

The ones I have done all involved taking off a cover on the base (usually with small cross head screw) and unclipping the RAM and replace with bigger module or add another - depends on your laptop make. model etc - you should be able to find details in the manual if you have it or on line at mfrs website.
Providing you buy the right kind of RAM it shoudl be an easy job

What operating system does the laptop have? Office 2003 needs Windows 2000 SP3 or XP or 2003.0

Have not got the laptop yet will be getting it in the morning off a friend. All I know really its a Dell Latitude CP with Windows 98.
Technical Details:
Processor: Intel Pentium ˜233Mhz
Screen Size: 12.1" SVGA TFT
Memory: 64Mb
Hard Disk: 4.1 Gb
Optical Drive: CDROM
Removable Storage: 1.44Mb Floppy Disk Drive
Modem: 56K Included with cable
Onboard Mouse: Touchpad
Have got office 97 as well, wonder if that would work.0 -
If its office 97 Premium stick that on as it kicks 03s behind, also do a defrag before
the install to make sure it goes on better/cleaner.0 -
From same site above:
CPU
Office 2003 requires a computer Pentium processor with a clock speed of at least 233 megahertz (MHz). Microsoft recommends a computer with a Pentium III or faster processor.
That is quite an old low spec machine by modern standards and I think you will be pushing the machine to its limits by using 2003 - Office 97 will run OK on that spec it is basically the same as later versions without so many bells and whistles - used it for years until very recently - now on Office 2000 which is fine.
Dell website will help you with manuals etc and should show you how to upgrade RAM but I suspect there will be quite a low upper limit to the extra RAM it will take.K eep

Ok everyone thanks for your help, will see how it goes when I get the laptop.0

windows 2000 will not run well with just 64 meg of ram... and you want to install office 2003 on top? You will need AT LEAST 192 meg of ram for windows 2000 and office 2003.... you will need at least 256 for XP and office 2003.0
