First bill from BG, wrong prices not a good start!

In July I managed to get on the British Gas Price Guarantee 2009 tariff just before they pulled the offer.

Just had my first electricity bill and the prices do not agree to the ones they sent me.

I have checked the prices and the ones on the bill are from the Fixed Price 2011 tariff.

Not a good start, is this why BG always have poor Customer Service ratings?
Cashback earned

Did you get a confirmation email that you were on the 2009 tariff?

There was a lot of posts from people at the end of July from people trying to beat the deadline when it closed.

Some got an email, some didn't.

Did you switch direct with BG ot through the comparison networks?
If the latter could they have delayed the application?

Bit of a mess, check the paperwork/emails you got.
But also check the prices of 2009 vs 2011 (also look at exit fees).
Some people have said that for electricity at least 2011 can be cheaper.
  • ALWAYS insist on the call centre bod emailing you confrmation of your conversation. Until I did this they invariably got it wrong. Amazingly, since I insisted on emailing confirmation of what we had agreed was going to be done, not one mistake. Co-incidence? Answers on a postcard, please.

I'm sure I will now be accused of 'having it in' for BG as per usual but you only have to check the feedback on their CS from the switching sites and Which to realise I'm by no means in the minority by suggesting that BG are a pretty useless company. This is what happens when you have millions of apathetic customers, you get lazy because there's no real incentive to be be anything else.

If you really want to be on the 2009 fix (DO please check out the electricty prices compared to Click 6, btw, ridiculous) ring up and insist on speaking to a manager and be very firm in what you want he/she to do to put this right...
