I got my Apple MacBook today and have spent the day trying to figure it out. I am a first time Mac user.
My huge Dummy question is where are the Word Processor and Spreadsheet programmes?? I know that there aren't the Windows versions but I was told that they come with basic Mac versions. It has Life 08 installed on it.
If anyone can help a Dummy, I'd much appreciate it
Thanks!

The Mac Spreadsheet/Word Processor version is called iWork.
It is not installed on the Macbook. You can download a trial version via Apple.

to see if you like it.
Other options included Openoffice which is free or Microsoft office for mac and others
