Free energy saving light bulbs

Home improvement retailer B&Q has announced the first ever nationwide light bulb amnesty in partnership with British Gas.

From Friday, October 31, to Sunday, November 2, anyone who takes a traditional light bulb to a B&Q store in England, Scotland or Wales will receive two energy saving bulbs to replace it, helping customers to reduce both their carbon footprint and electricity bills.

  • I had just made my mind up to throw out all my traditional lightbulbs, but taking them to B&Q to be replaced by energy-saving bulbs is even better.

Tesco have also got deals on for energy saving bulbs like bogof and 5 for 40p but depending on the type, but well worth a visit.

changed the 3 light bulbs in the living room tonight, its like Blackpool lights now with these energy saving light bulbs

now I intend taking the "old" style light bulbs to B&Q to exchange them for more energy light saving bulbs :wink::wink::wink::wink:
  • Just a reminder that this starts tomorrow at B&Q. Offer limited to 2 per household so probably not worth a special trip but OK if you are passing anyway.

Once again bad customer service for B&Q Northern Ireland customers.

Can't even order of their website, even though they plaster their NI stores with adverts for the website
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.
  • has anyone seen any of the small screw-in energy saving light bulbs anywhere, that are reasonably priced. I need about 30 of them for my house (lots of lamps!) and they are about £2 each in morrisons

    Hi there
See if you have a Tesco in your area,as stated in my previous post, they have small screw-in in our local one but depends on the wattage.
    Regards
  • Yes, I too ended up buying the small screw-in ones at Tesco - one of the rare occasions that Tesco were actually cheaper than both Ikea and Wilkinson...
Thanks to all who post constructively.
