Northern Rock to lower interest rates - 1/11/2008

OK, so just been reading up on the NR interest rates and it seems that they are lowering the e-saver account on 1st November to 5.15%. (http://www.northernrock.co.uk/savings/saving-rates/online-accounts/).
Are there any better options out there that pay monthly interest? I can see this account dropping it's interest rate fast. I'm even tempted by a 6 month fix as I don't really need the money (I have about £35,500 in the account at the moment with another £13,000 in Halifax that should be elsewhere.
ANy suggestions. I was thinking of Birmingham Midshires, are the any good?

Birmingham Midshires is HBOS so if you're trying to move away from there then that's a bit silly

BM are fine.
Why not stick your money in a 3 month fix at the Halifax for 7%?
Egg at 6.55% (variable) offer an excellent instant access account too.0
