Virgin Media, Help to get out of contract

I've been with Virgin for years when they were still Telewest, I recently moved into my flat and decided to take my services with me which are TV, Broadband and Phone 3 fo £30 bundle deal. I was due to be installed with my services on 26 June 08 only for the engineer to tell me that there was a problem with the wiring outside the property and he couldn't install my broadband that day. I was then given another appointment 3 weeks later, i contacted Virgin and stated I did not think that was good enough and that no longer wanted their services. I was persuaded to stay and told I would be given an extra set top box for my TV for half the normal proce.

The day the I was given the appointment was the anniversary of my friend son's death and we were all meant to go to the cemetrary with her but I couldn't cos I was waiting for Virgin, waited the whole time period for noone to turn up, I contacted them only to be informed that no one was actually coming to my flat but to fix the cables outside the property, i was  and wrote to their Customer Concern department to complain. I receieved an apology letter and the promised discount on my 2nd tv box.

shortly after this I noticed that my telephone was not working and contacted them, an engineer came out on 4th sept but couldn't fix the problem and Virgin could not offer me another appointment until october 12th! a whole six weeks later!
October 12th, the engineer came still couldn't fix the problem so another one was sent on 17th October again still could't fix the problem. I contacted Virgin that I no longer wanted my phone service, i was assured that the problem would be fixed by today and they would offer me 3 months free for my phone after it was fixed to make up the last 3 months. Another engineer's now come today and guess what the problem's still not fixed.

i then spent almost an hour on the phone with the Customer Concern team that I no longer wanted my phone service only to be informed i would be charged more for my tv and broadband services and an early discharge fee for ending my phone service!

This can't be right?! any advice or help would be most appreciated, will definately be going to my local citizen's advice when I can for legal advice on this

No more on the phone to them. Write, keep a copy. Tell them that they have failed to deliver for 4 months, and you have given them every cooperation. Tell them that because of their failure the phone contract is at an end and that no early discharge fee is payable because they have not delivered anything to be discharged from.

As for broadband and TV, you may have to pay extra for that, but you should ask for fair compensation for phone service which has not been delivered. You would need to tell them how much a fair figure would be.
After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
    To dissolve the people
    And elect another?
  • Thanks, that's what i normally do, don't even know why i wasted my credits calling them!

I like the bit about the fair compensation
