found this laptop, really cheap only 299 just a little worried about processor, do i need dual core? i will only really be doing internet, email, msn, and a bit of word and excel once in a while.
do people think this is good enough thanks in adavnce

All those uses existed well before dual core, so no you don't need dual core
Agreed.
But... would a 1.7Ghz Celeron be a bit slow to boot up and start programs under Vista?
It's a genuine question, not a statement. I've never used Vista so I don't know, but it seems that it's quite a bit more resource-hungry than any previous version of Windows.0 -
It will be fine for what you have said you will use it for.
The problem with these cheaper machines is the build quality and battery life.
For a bit extra I would rather go for a Dell Inspiron or similar.0
