Best Voice Recognition Software

I'm looking to get some voice recognition software to aid with my revision notes. Dragon is quite expensive but have no experience of it. I tried using the Vista speech recognition software that is included with the operating system but its absolute rubbish (unless i'm using it wrong), has anyone had any success with any?

Probably not a great deal of help, but the only VR I've used was Dragon 9. It worked fine, but you did need a decent headset and patience to train it to get the best from it. However, I wasn't completely blown away by it, and was glad that I was able to return it (purchased from QVC).0
