For converting DVDs I can recommend Pocket DVD Studio
http://www.pqdvd.com/watch_dvd_on_pocket_pc.html
For Archos install it using the All option for running mode, if your going to watch mainly on the 4inch screen select 480 pixesl wide option for pixel perfect video, for 2.35 ratio movies select the crop option 1 in from the right to only encode the 2.35 video at 480 pixels wide.0 -
emujuice wrote:oh yeah, and you can also watch divx movies from it. only problem is that as far as i can see you need the break out box to plug it in to the tv and this needs to be plugged into a power supply. just a bit fiddly if you want to take a movie round to a friends on it.
You don't need the breakout box or PSU.
Plug the breakout cable straight into the headphone socket, it will run off battery as well.
Tip, the Sony PSP power adaptor works fine with the AV560.0 -

In ture money saving fashion.....does anyone know of a similar program that is free or at least cheaper than this? Mrs beancounter will be most unhappy at me spending $30 on software after spending just under £300 on the Archos!0 -
I found myself near a Currys store today and just couldn't resist going in and buying the Archos. Will take the one ordered online back for a refund once it arrives. First impressions are good. Once its charged fully I will play around with it but made some test recordings off Sky and picture quality seems very good.0

Just a side note:
I found "MediaMonkey" http://www.mediamonkey.com/ (FREE)
good for tagging and inserting album covers into your MP3 collection.
Looks great on the Archos when you have the covers.
Its best not to use "Full Skin Mode" when you install.0 -
