Where is the best place to look for a decent antivirus/firewall. I've just had a 30 day trial of ESET which works fine but its £45 for two pcs.

Agree with above. I always use www.download.com for any free software. Just use the search function and you can see users comments/ratings.0

I've just installed commodo and am doing the avast home edition 4 next. Many thanks. I've spent a fortune on this laptop lately with things going wrong with it.0

AVG, never had a problem with a virus in the 4 yrs I've used it"a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."0

Eset is worth the money. There's a noticable difference in system performance when using any of the free ones.0

I have Comodo on my Desktop and Avast on my laptop, I don't notice any difference in performanceIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

That's nice. Have you removed them and tried NOD32? Thought not. Until then, your comments are worthless.
I know for fact that AVAST slows down a system through personal use. A recent comparison of scan times showed Avast is twice as slow per file at scanning than NOD32. That means each file effectively takes twice as long to open and be available to the system.0 -
Nice and friendly Conor.
Having tried NOD32, which did not make my systems any quicker than Avast or Comodo, but were faster than with AVG and AntiVir.
I'd be interested in seeing the evidence to back up your 'facts', or is it another fact from the "Conor says so it must be right" school of thought? It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0 -

Did you get out of bed the wrong side, or are you just rude!
PS have tried ALL the progs mentioned , still come back to AVG0 -
I've had to delete both avast and comodo as one of them stopped my internet connection. I had to take the laptop to the repair shop because I wasn't sure what was wrong with it. They just did a system restore back a couple of days.0
