What are Estate Agents Up to?

What are estate agents up too? We have known that property prices have dropped here in the south , and yet estate agents have still put property prices at 2007 prices. And estate agents are closing down. One way to research previous properties sold in roads is the following website
http://www.ourproperty.co.uk/?referrer=overture&keyword=www.ourproperty.co.uk
Ive researched it, as im interested. But not until estate agents and sellers are realistic. And IMHO they are certainly not being realistic. So when can we see a change in them?

Making cups of coffee waiting for a novice buyer who doesn't read the papers to make a 2007 price offer. We have known that property prices have dropped here in the south , and yet estate agents have still put property prices at 2007 prices.
Many estate agents would rather go down with their ship than sell a house for less. Afterall it is them who encouraged the greed of sellers to ask higher prices and now they are crying. I wonder what will happen to their fancy car and made to measure suit.0 -
Yes but surely the repos will eventually dictate the prices, as the banks will be keen to secure sales?0

It may be a permanent thing playing scrabble; your friend playing from home though?
But seriously, with banks not lending to FTBs, his only hope is to sell now to Buyers with Capital?0 -
well my estate agent has done nothing but badger me into dropping the price constantly, something which he has had to talk me into doing. maybe he is rare. ive noticed in the are that im looking to buy that prices just are not coming down and it makes me wonder what their estate agents are telling them. im in south london, but im looking to buy further south.
the prices just are not moving.
we wondered why cos surely they would rather some commision rather than none at all and continued advertising costs for a property??0 -

Just to put the cat amongst the pigeons, so to speak. Wont sellers of empty properties start to get worried
1. Getting Squatters in
2. With Winter fast approaching, with no heating on, and frozen pipes; leading to burst pipes?0 -
well theres a property we are interested in, its too much for us but because ive had to knock so much off mine and still havent had a buyer (first viewing today in 4 months), we are going to have to be ruthless, so may well put in a really low offer on things and push any embarrassment aside. however, we noticed that the property has been on the market for about 14 months and when we viewed it recently, it had damp, it had a dehumidifier on. so with another winter of no heating, they could be damaging their property further.0
