Freeview missing channels

Hi, Just got a Samsung LCD TV with built in freeview and its missimg some freeview channels. The set top box in my bedroom get all channels and shares a common wall mounted aerial point with the Samsung. The missing channels are virgin1, uktv history and TMF (Multuplex D channels search google)

Tried doing a manual tune and the channel selector jumps from 12 to 21

Any ideas

• Tried disconnecting bedroom set top box, using a signal booster and an indoor aerial and resetting the TV but every time it auto scans for channels it still jump from channel 12 to 21 where the missing channels are

Its not too clear EXACTLY what you did.
What does the tv say on SIGNAL STRENGTH?
Have you tried a signal booster from the roof aerial connection?

• Thanks for all your help, just tried this;
Took the set top box from the bedroom and plugged the set top box into the back of the samsung TV via scart and used the down stairs aerial point. Did an auto scan and the Set top box found UKtv history and virgin1. The signal strength for uktv was not that strong about 10-15 % but picture was clear and didn't freeze and for BBC1 was over 50%. Havn't tried connecting booster to roof aerial only to aerial wall point.
So have bad feeling that something wrong with built in freeview on Samsung LCD LE37A436T

Theres nothing wrong with the Samsung tv. Clearly the signal just isnt strong enough (Yes it works with the set top box, but probably only just). So your choices are ~
Upgrade the aerial/positioning and the wire from it to H109/CT100 type cable (Less interference and loss of signal)

a better signal booster (Look at the 'variable Gain' you should be after at LEAST 18DB, but around 30 would be better)
If all that fails then you might need to consider 'feesat' instead

Not really. Some tuners are just a bit more deaf than others. Also, if you're splitting the signal without using a booster, you're going to get most going to the one with the least impedance and next to nothing going to the other. It's not a 50/50 split and every connector you stick in the lead from the antenna to the receiver loses signal.

And regarding the Channel 12 to 21 jump, well UK channels don't start until 21.

Thats my plan, wait for the Freesat HD+ box to come out which hopefully will lower the price of the normal Freesat HD box below £100 which will then be within my reach. But its just annoying that I don't get all the channels on my nice new TV and get them all on a cheap Set top box.

A common problem is that TV sets emit a lot of interference. If this gets into the wall socket or aerial cable, it gets fed back into the TV's own tuner and effectively deafens it. So the answer is to make sure that the wall socket (if any) is a fully screened type and that ALL cables near to the TV are fully screened. Try a Google search for "double-screened cable".
• Got all my Freeview channels now, Thanks to AlienRik for giving me faith in my samsung and Connor for giving me the idea about 50/50 split. Here's how I fixed it

1. Took my TV upstairs where the signal strength should be stronger, due to less distance to aerial, connected it up with a signal booster
2. Re auto scanned for channels and the missing channels are found
3. Took TV downstairs reconnect and again the channels were there

Humping a 37'' LCD up and downstairs was fun but worth it
